Senator for South Australia

South Australia is the only place on earth I want to live, work and play.

Elected to represent the people of South Australia in the Commonwealth Parliament in May 2022, I officially began my role as Senator on 1 July 2022. Since then, I have served as Shadow Minister for Child Protection and the Prevention of Family Violence, Shadow Minister for Indigenous Australians, and Shadow Minister for Social Services, and I am currently Shadow Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care. Most importantly, I am committed to ensuring that the voices of South Australians are heard and their needs are advocated for in Canberra.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Management from the University of South Australia and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Adelaide. I also completed a Vincent Fairfax Foundation Ethics Fellowship and am a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

I also take great pride in my appointment as Deputy Opposition Whip in the Senate, Chair of the Economics References Committee, Deputy Chair of the Economics Legislation Committee and Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Parliamentary Standards.

I am deeply proud to be the first Indigenous South Australian elected to Federal Parliament, a milestone I don’t take lightly. But my pride in that achievement doesn’t change who I’m here for: I represent and serve all South Australians with equal dedication and commitment.

About_Story_ Kerrynne Liddle

Kerrynne Liddle

I’ve raised my family in South Australia, completed my studies at our state’s universities, and built a successful small business. Throughout my career, I’ve worked in a variety of areas, including leadership roles in industries like education, employment, energy, tourism, the arts, and publishing, as well as in social housing, the environment, and health.

I began my career as a journalist, working in both radio and television, and later established my own public relations business. From there, I took on key management roles where I was responsible for leading large teams, including Indigenous employees, and played an active role in the development of programs and initiatives.

My experience in global companies and not-for-profit organisations has given me valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities faced by South Australians, and I am committed to using this knowledge to contribute meaningfully to our state’s future.
